Letters. Over 3,500 of them. Love notes, confessions, and longing words exchanged between one of the most powerful women in American history and a woman the world barely knew.
They start like this:
'Hick darling, I can’t go to bed tonight without a word to you.'
And another says:
'I want to put my arms around you and kiss you at the corner of your mouth.'
These aren’t just friendly notes. These are letters of love, desire, and something far more complex.
I’m talking about Eleanor Roosevelt—the First Lady of the United States—and her relationship with journalist Lorena Hickok.
Was it friendship? Love? Or something in between? Did this bond shape Eleanor’s legendary legacy? And perhaps the biggest question of all…what happens to love when the whole world is watching?
This is Whispers of the White House, and today, we’re pulling back the curtain on one of the most intimate and controversial relationships in American history.
Stick around. This one’s personal.

In this episode, we delve into the captivating and controversial story of Grover Cleveland — the only U.S. president to serve two non-consecutive terms. But beyond this historical anomaly, Cleveland's presidency was marked by integrity, tough decisions, and one scandal that nearly derailed his entire career. We explore his reputation as a "veto warrior," his battle against political corruption, and his controversial economic reforms during one of America’s worst financial crises. However, it’s his infamous affair with Maria Halpin that takes center stage in this episode. Discover how this scandal, complete with claims of paternity, institutional abuse, and a biting political slogan — “Ma, Ma, where’s my Pa?” — became one of the most memorable smear campaigns in U.S. political history. Learn how Cleveland's unorthodox strategy of “telling the truth” transformed him from scandal-ridden candidate to victorious president. This episode unpacks it all — power, scandal, and the art of political survival.

Oh, politics. Love it or hate it, this election year has been a tough one for many and amazing for many others. I have never been very political, mainly because I saw how crazy my dad would get about it, and it felt like it was all over my head. I just didn’t understand. I still don’t know much, but this year, I know for me, has taught me more about politics than any other political year.
Honestly, I am really enjoying how each side is reacting—the breakdowns of the left and the celebrations of the right. I’m here for it.
So, this got me thinking. With all the political chaos, it’s worth asking: Who are the people in power right now? And who are the individuals that will be shaping our policies and our future?
Some of Trump’s nominees, for example, have been accused of inappropriate behavior or enmeshed in controversies. Others have raised eyebrows for entirely different reasons. But here’s the thing: Understanding who they are—the good, the bad, and everything in between—matters. It’s not just about their titles; it’s about what they bring to the table and how they influence the nation. If we got rid of every member of the Senate, the House, and any politician that raised eyebrows, had domestic violence issues, or was just accused of inappropriate behavior. Well, the House and Senate would almost certainly be empty. Hypocrisy at its finest, people.
So, with that said, let's discuss Trump's Nominees and who is in those positions now.
